A really simple content management system (CMS) framework for bands, public speakers, performers, entertainers, or anyone else who needs to maintain a performance calendar online.

Easy to Use

If you are interested in posting your important dates online, Showlister makes it simple. Light and fast, SL is a great way to keep your dates fresh without the hassle and confusion of directly modifying a static document.

Showlister allows you to log in to a password-protected page where you can enter, edit or delete dates on the fly. With this simple HTML form interface, edits are instantaneous. All that's required to display your schedule is a small snippet of PHP code, placed where you'd like it to appear.

Easy Implementation

Lots of web sites use Showlister. Why? Simplicity. Showlister is easy enough for the average user to implement, and developers with tight deadlines and little time to build a custom calendar system find SL's small footprint and modularity appealing. Some users simply don't want to overload their web presence with a large, complex CMS when they need to accomplish a simple task.

Framework

We like to consider Showlister a CMS framework. This distinction is important; we include sample output pages which are designed to be vanilla–easy to customize to your needs–but otherwise, the way you display your shows is completely up to you.

Requirements

A web server with PHP and MySQL
Two database tables

Bugs

.04b introduced bugs in two files in the admin directory: index.php and add_shows.php. These files are fixed in .05b. If you installed .04b, you can either upgrade to .05b or, at a minimum, replace these two admin files with the fixed ones in the .05b release
A missing call to the methods file in the sample pages for version .03b can cause an "undefined function" error. If you are using .03b, grab these samples and use them instead.

7.31.2006 Development of showlister (sL) has resumed. We are currently working through the CVS to clean up the code base. A new release will be available late Q3 or early Q4 of 2006. We will be working toward our 1.0 release. Stay tuned...

8.06.2005 Here it is, folks -- the moment umm, three of us have been waiting for. Minus some backend scripting for the "I Power Showlister" contraption, the site is all here. Work on the latest release of SL continues at a brisk pace, and, without getting specific, a new version should be here within the next few months. 7.19.2005 It has been a long while since the last file release, but showlister is still very much alive. In fact, we've added two members to the development team. Josh, of hinkybox.com, will be adding his web design kung-fu and James, of freak2532.com, has joined us as a developer. There's not yet a timetable for the next release, but expect something soon.

12.09.2004 The .04b release of Showlister includes minor fixes and feature enhancements to the admin interface and sample pages. Showlister .04b has been tested against PHP5 and MySQL 4.

1.25.2004 showlister .03b fixes an SQL typo in the installation instructions and a problem handling apostrophes in text fields of the editing interface. We've included a new sample page demonstrating how to include show details on a seperate line, which is good for sites which require long descriptions of shows/events.

8.11.2003 showlister .02b is now availible with support for multiple bands/artists. A directory of sample pages has been included to demonstrate different ways to pull show and artist data for use on your website. We have made the upgrade path easy for existing users.
